Labor Day Potluck!!..?!

This will be a short quick post because I have to read a few chapters for tomorrows class. Why haven't I already did it earlier? I was super tired from last-night. It really doesn't make any sense for me to have been so tired earlier because I went to bed at like ten the other night but I was.

Potluck!!..?!

So today is September first also known as Labor day, for those of you who didn't know for whatever reason. My roommates had originally planned to go to one of their friends houses for a cookout but I guess the hostess/host change their mind about having it so they came up with the idea to do potluck at our apartment. I have heard the term potluck used before but I did not know exactly what they were talking about. My roommates explained to me that a potluck was were each person makes or brings a dish and everyone shares. Each of my roommates are from different countries. One is from Indonesia, the other one is from Madagascar, and I forgot where the last one is from. On to the potluck..

I am not a really big cooking type person. I only cook if I really have to and even then I do not go all out with the difficulty of the dishes. The most I will do is fish, rice, frozen veggies, cakes (I love icing off of homemade cakes), grits, eggs , pasta, tuna, spaghetti, turkey veggie burgers, and that is about all I can think of at the moment. Unlike myself, my roommates LOVE to cook. Seriously that is what they do for fun.

So for potluck today my two roommates cooked while I slept. Their decision, not mine. My other roommate was on vacation in Savannah, I get the feeling she travels a lot. We were scheduled to start at 4:30 pm but they had a little more cooking to do which I helped with occasionally, almost not at all. Therefore, we ended up eating at about 5:44. It would've been earlier but we were waiting on my mom, and little brother and sister to arrive. However, we didn't get to eat with them cause they were at the store getting food for me. Anyway, enough of that on to all the delicious food we my roommates prepared!! I took as many pictures as possible while thinking about it. I will take more detailed photos of each dish next time.

Pictures from the potluck! :)

This is basically all the food we had at the potluck. The only thing we did not shown is the rice which was placed in the very center of this table later, fried corn patties, and grapes and oranges which were on the other table.

These are the fried corn patties. That is not the correct name for them but I can not ask my roommate because she is sleeping. This is an Indonesian dish. It is extremely delicious.

This was basically the setup of the table that we had. Our apartment is only for four people which is why it is so tiny. However, we were able to make it work.

These are deviled eggs. My roommate with the yellow shirt made these she added a little mashed potato to them they were really good as well.
